This Duet Design Plays To Romance & Modern Styling
Miranda Cullen and Devon Tobin, of Duet Design Group, were one of six design teams featured at our 4th Annual Defining Design event on May 9th. Their inspiration came first from the shimmering velvet-like “Crazy Monet” shams from Fino Lino Linen & Lace and the “Newtopia” duvet cover, a bed linen designed and printed by the geniuses at Christian Fischbacher. The two elements together suggest dreamy summers in the garden, but with a twist. “Newtopia” is especially interesting in the way it frames kaleidoscopic views of skies and botanical gardens, then solders various panes together with a “copper-foil” border, much like Tiffany glass.
To complete the bed design, Duet chose SDH Linens’s Allegro coverlet in the most beautiful of neutral colors, platinum, a deeply textured fabric comprised of silk, linen and cotton, an exquisite arrangement of Kevin O’Brien ombre velvet pillows in shades of aubergine and mauve, and coordinating lace sheets in silver blue and powder rose from Dea Luxury Linens. The setting was appointed with a Jamie Young crystal table lamp and gilded pendants, a turn of the century bed from Brass Beds of Virginia, a contemporary side table from Made Goods and a beautiful rug from Shaver Ramsey. The entire effect was romantic, yet of the moment, in style.
Defining Design is a celebration of the designers that we have the privilege of working with and offers an opportunity for them to showcase their vision of bedroom design for our customers to see. It is the ultimate “meet and greet,” bringing together designers, clients and customers, luxury textiles and our knowledgeable staff. This was our 4th Annual Defining Design event, and included discounted shopping, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Depression Center, door prizes, hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer, and plenty of party.
